Traditionally, the local inn or pub has always been an important focal point for any village community. For over two centuries Scone Arms has served the people of Scone as a place to meet friends old and new, to socialise and to engage in a variety of leisure pursuits - or just relax and unwind after a hard day's work.
Much may have changed in the past 200 years, but Scone Arms still holds its place at the heart of the local community, offering a warm welcome and unstinting hospitality to regulars and visitors alike.
If it's a good, old-fashioned local pub you're looking for then The Top Bar at Scone Arms is just the place. Well-aged wood-panelling on the walls and ceiling, original gas lamp fittings and walls decked with photographs, trophies and memorabilia all add to the warmth of the atmosphere.
The well-stocked gantry includes a selection of fine malt whiskies in addition to the usual spirits while, for the beer-drinker, there is always a choice of cask-conditioned ales as well as quality draught or bottled beers, stouts and lagers. And, of course, non-alcoholic beverages for the drivers!
The decor may be reminiscent of a bygone era but the technology is strictly 21st century. Large-screen TVs offer a feast of entertainment for sports enthusiasts, with full Sky Sports and Setanta services to ensure that you miss none of the action. And to complete the sporting package there are separate facilities for playing pool and darts.
If, on the other hand, what you are seeking is a little peaceful seclusion then The Snug Bar is probably more to your taste. Small, snug with timber beams, exposed stone wall and an open fire-place, The Wee Bar is a favourite place to get away from things.
Next to The Snug Bar there is a comfortable lounge which is ideal if you are waiting to be seated in the Scone Arms Restaurant.
On sunny days and warm evenings nothing pleases more than to enjoy a cool drink al fresco. Sheltered at the rear of the building, the spacious, timber-decked Beer Garden is the ideal spot. And it doubles as a rather luxurious facility for smokers.
